Anatomy- The Heart

Anatomy SlideProverbs 4:20-27 (NLT) 20 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. 21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. 23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. 24 Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. 25 Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. 26 Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. 27 Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.

HEART ISSUES:
Over 600K (1 in 4)people die of heart disease in the United States every year.

Just as there are many diseases and disorders that can affect the physical heart, there are many ailments of the spiritual heart that can impair growth and development.
Heart Attacks: disappointment, despair, somebody dies, a relationship break up….
Hardness of heart: Offense, bitterness, critical spirit, bitterness.
Strain of the heart: Stress, lack of pace(rhythm), worry, anxiety.
“If we are not careful to equip and protect our heart properly then the events that happen will dictate the condition of our heart.”

Proverbs 4:23(NIV) Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Lifestyle: things we commit, the things we omit.
Exercise: Are we using our heart? Responding to the things God puts there. Love our neighbor, expressing gratitude, being generous, giving our time to others. Expressing and receiving affection?

IT’S THE
WELLSPRING!
Luke 6:45 (NIV) The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

Maintaining a Healthy heart?
1. Lead it.
Romans 10:10 (NIV) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified!
YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR HEART!”
“You cant control what happens to you but you can control what happens in you!”
Psalm 27:8 (MSG) When my heart whispered, "Seek God," my whole being replied, "I'm seeking him!"
Luke 12:34 (NLT) Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

2. Feed it.

Philippians 4:8(NIV)
Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

3. Knead It
Matthew 13:33
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”

Woman at the well….
John 4:13-15 (NLT)Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” 15 “Please, sir,” the woman said, “give me this water!

“Jesus doesn’t just change the water he changes the well!”
Ezekiel 36:26 (NLT) 26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
