March 02, 2014 Series: Lover
Ephesians 3:17-18 That may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.
Revelation 4:2-3 I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.
Song of Solomon 1:2-4 Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth-- for your love is more delightful than wine. Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. No wonder the maidens love you! Take me away with you--let us hurry! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We rejoice and delight in you ; we will praise your love more than wine. How right they are to adore you!
The Intimacy of Jesus:
1- Jesus Intends Intimacy
We Were CREATED for his delight!
Colossians 1:16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and FOR him.
We were CHOSEN for his delight!
Mark 3:14 He appointed twelve--designating them apostles--that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach.
2- Jesus Instigates Intimacy
Matthew 27:50-51 Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.
Hebrews 10:19-22 We can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place…let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.
3- Jesus invites us to Intimacy
2 Corinthians 1:22 He has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.
Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." Let anyone who hears this say, "Come." Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.
Psalms 27:4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
Devotion and Intimacy are 2 different things...
Devotion + Intimacy= A Moving & Motivating Relationship.
Devotion - Intimacy= Religious Devotion with no heart.
Psalms 16:8 I have set the LORD always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
