ENCOUNTERS- From The Roof

encountersslide

Mark 2:1-12 (NIV) 1 when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. 2 So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. 3 Some men came, bringing to him a paralytic, carried by four of them. 4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus and, after digging through it, lowered the mat the paralyzed man was lying on. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." 6 Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, 7 "Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" 8 Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, "Why are you thinking these things? 9 Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, take your mat and walk'? 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...." He said to the paralytic, 11 "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home." 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this!"

John 1:17 (NIV)
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Verse 5 “When Jesus saw their faith…”
The Faith of Friends
“The encounter we need is often times connected with those we are community with.”

1. Built through community
Acts 2:42-44 (NLT) 42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.
When we become isolated We loose our power.

2. Driven by Compassion
“Some people will only encounter the Lord because you are in there life.”

3. Carried out by carrying weight
Friends make a way.
Romans 12:15 (NIV)
Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

What Jesus reveals in Encounter.
verse 5: “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
1. Himself
Ephesians 1:7-9 (NIV) 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8 that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
Jesus was not just showing the man and his friends he could heal, he was showing them that He is God.”

2. Our identity

3. Our position

4. Our condition-
Verse 11 “Get up, take up your matt and Go home.”

Luke 12:32 (NLT) “It gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom.”
